Suffolk County is hosting a Reclaim Our Water update for anyone interested in learning more about the County’s efforts to promote innovative/alternative onsite wastewater treatment systems, for new development and to retrofit 360,000 non-performing systems currently in place.
To arrest and reverse the trend of water quality degradation, Suffolk is implementing a County-wide plan for wastewater. Realization of these objective will be contingent on identifying sources of finance on a meaningful scale.
The County will provide a history of actions taken to date on the Reclaim Our Water initiative, an update on the Septic Pilot Program, and background on Article 19 of the Sanitary Code.
