Recently, there have been some stories in Newsday about the owner of Thatched Cottage filing for bankruptcy. True statement. One of the stories says that 8 couples cancelled their wedding there since the announcement. Also a true statement. The part that annoys me, as one of the 142 couples who have not cancelled their wedding there, is that they failed to mention that. 8 out of 150 couples cancelled their weddings there. Considering the news, that's nothing. Ralph, the owner, assured us that all events would go on as planned. Maybe some people will feel I am naive for trusting him. What else is he going to tell me? Get out now, here's your money back? Of course not. But I also know this place has been open for 99 years, and I know how much Ralph and his family care about the place, Ralph is the lead chef, and his daughter the baker, this is not just their business but their love and their life, so I believe him. It's up to the other 142 couples to make that decision on their own, but I just wanted to put it out there that my fiancee and I will NOT be canceling our wedding at Thatched Cottage in October 2014.
