Sally, An Outdoor Cat Who Belongs Indoors: Huntington Pet Of The Week
She is 7 months. "Sally deserves another chance to find happiness, warmth and love. Won't you be that person to make her dreams come true?"

HUNTINGTON, NY — Sally, a 7-month-old small black kitten with yellow eyes, is the Grateful Paw Cat Shelter's Huntington Pet of the Week.
She was born outside but belongs indoors, said Debbi Larkin, president of the shelter.
"Sally came to us in December after she was found in the backyard of a man who had recently passed away," Larkin said. "This gentleman had been feeding Sally and her siblings and was trying to trap them in order to be brought to a rescue who would take care of them and give them the opportunity to be adopted and become an indoor cat. The next door neighbor stepped in to help and immediately called us to see if there was room and of course we said 'yes.'"

Sally was very timid when she first arrived, according to Larkin. She was confused as to why
she was separated from her siblings, but she was the only one who was friendly enough to be picked up without using a trap.
"She was hiding under the cubbies or in the condo when placed in the kitten room, but with extra TLC from the volunteers and visitors, she has come to realize we mean her no harm," Larkin said.

Sally loves to play with the other kittens in the room and will chase the sponge balls from one end of the room to the other. She also loves to carry the toy mice from the hiding spots and drop them into the water bowl.
"I think she is trying to see if they know how to swim," Larkin said.
She now plays "king of the hill" from the top perch on the condo so she can look out the window at the birds and squirrels and anyone else who happens to be walking by. She also loves to be brushed, and the minute you start, her purr motor starts and does not stop.
She has quite the appetite and will push the others out of the way in order to do a taste test of what is on the plates.
"She hasn’t figured it out yet that both plates have the same exact food!" Larkin said.

The rescue is at 3 Verleye Ave., East Northport, and visiting hours are Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
The shelter is also open from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday nights only for those who cannot make it during the daytime hours.
"This petite kitten is waiting patiently for her forever family to come into the shelter and take her home. She would love another playmate (and she has quite a few in our kitten room) but that is not a requirement. Sally deserves another chance to find happiness, warmth and love.
