Seven to be Honored by Civic Group

Greater Huntington Civic Group to recognize residents for serving needs of the community.

Seven area residents will be honored by the Greater Huntington Civic group in April for endeavors which the organization says refects favorably on the township. 

The honorees will be recognized with Huntington's Organizations, People & Places of Excellence awards for having unwavering dedication and commitment to serving the needs and interests of the community, according to a GHCG press release. 

“We are pleased and proud to announce our first-ever honorees who have distinguished themselves by their service to the community,” said GHCG President Steven Spucces.

The innaugural H.O.P.E. gala is scheduled for April 21 at the Huntington Crescent Club.

  • Jim Polansky: Huntington Schools Superintendent
  • Rev. Jerry Artis: Military veteran, and clergy and youth program leader 
  • Juli Coraor: Huntington High School senior named a
  • Marta Smith: Leader of the Latin Task Force and Clergy Task Force
  • Alfred Sforza, D.D.S.: Lifelong Huntington resident and township historian and author
  • Megan Hansen: Huntington High School junior who conducted breast cancer research in Boston and created a cancer-prevention program aimed at middle school students
  • Josh Solomowitz, Huntington High School junior who conducted breast cancer research at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia
