South Huntington Students' Ornaments Put Up At National Christmas Tree
Each student designed an ornament that represents New York state. The students were recognized by Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone.
HAUPPAUGE, NY — Third-graders from Maplewood Intermediate School in the South Huntington School District had their ornaments displayed at the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C., according to Suffolk County.
The students of Viviana Polanco's class were chosen to represent New York in the America Celebrates ornaments program. The White House is set to celebrate the 100th time the National Christmas Tree has been lit.
The students were honored Friday by Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone.

"They were chosen out of the more than 4,400 schools in New York," Bellone wrote on Facebook. "Their ornaments will adorn 58 smaller trees that surround the National Christmas Tree on the White House grounds."
