HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — Alison Russo's name will forever live on in Huntington Station.

A stretch of Railroad Street was renamed for Russo, a slain FDNY EMT lieutenant and member of the Huntington Community First Aid Squad, on Wednesday. A sign bearing "Capt. Alison Russo Way" was placed.

Russo was stabbed to death near her Astoria work station in late September at the age of 61. The Huntington Station resident was a 24-year department veteran who served as a first responder in the Sept. 11 attacks. She was six months away from retiring. Russo was posthumously promoted to Captain by both the HCFAS and the FDNY.
