- Syosset social studies teacher to appear on Jeopardy. Daniel Wohl will be a contestant on the episode airing next Wednesday, Feb. 8. The school district said Wohl began the application process more than two years ago. (Patch)
- Two men steal $6,100 in electrical breakers from Commack Lowes. Police are looking for the men who committed the crime on Dec. 3, around 6:30 a.m. They are asking anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS. The duo is wanted for grand larceny and there is a photo of the men in the link. (Patch)
- Hilltop Kitchen & Bar has been a hit in the community. The Syosset restaurant opened in January and serves lunch, dinner, and a wide variety of menu items. - Walt Whitman High School educator named a New York State Master Teacher. John Karavias received the recognition which features educators "recognized for their dedication to providing the most innovative STEM education to their students, their commitment to professional growth, and their enthusiasm for sharing their successful practices with colleagues in their schools, districts and regions," according to The State University of New York.
