HUNTINGTON, NY — Huntington is "going purple" for National Recovery Month, the town and its Opioid & Addiction Task Force announced.

The initiative is meant to raise awareness of the drug addiction crisis on Long Island and across the United States.

The town will fly purple flags on the front lawn of Town Hall and on lamp posts along portions of Larkfield Road and New York Avenue in observance of September as National Recovery Month, which was created in 1989 to de-stigmatize the disease of addiction, promote evidence-based treatment, and celebrate the tens of millions of Americans in recovery.
