Town Sets Hearing on Hurricane Response

Comments and suggestions invited at Feb. 5 session.

The Town Board has scheduled a public hearing Feb. 5, to hear comments and suggestions on the Town’s response to Hurricane Sandy.

The town Highway Department estimates that the damage done by Hurricane Sandy was seven times worse than Hurricane Irene last year.

"Irene took us 3 weeks to clean up and it generated 70,000 cubic yards of vegetative (tree, brush etc) debris," the department said. "We estimate that after all the vegetative debris in the Town right-of-ways is picked up for Superstorm Sandy the amount of vegetative debris will surpass 500,000 cubic yards."
