Walt Whitman HS To Host Homecoming, Hall Of Fame Induction

The South Huntington high school is set to host a parade, football game, hall of fame ceremony and more this weekend.

SOUTH HUNTINGTON, NY — Walt Whitman High School's Spirit Week is set to culminate in a day of festivities on Saturday. The South Huntington school is slated to host its Homecoming Parade, varsity football game and its South Huntington’s Hall of Fame induction, according to a news release.

The Hall of Fame ceremony is set to go from 2:30 to 3 p.m. The Homecoming Parade is set to run at 4 p.m. Following that, the football game kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The parade will feature local organizations, clubs, and school representatives from the entire district.

Every two years, Walt Whitman alumni who have excelled in their careers are awarded the honor of being inducted into the South Huntington Hall of Fame. The ceremony was postponed last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Three alumni are set to be inducted this year.

After the ceremony, the 5-0 Walt Whitman Wildcats will take the field against Commack High School.
