The girls were approached by the woman who tried to convince them to get in her vehicle.

ISLIP, NY - Two Islip high school girls were approached by a woman driving in a SUV while walking home from school earlier this week, according to a letter from principal Michael Mosca.
On Tuesday afternoon, the girls were walking east on Raymond Street towards Union Avenue.
The SUV passed the students on Raymond Street and did a U-turn back towards them.

The driver told the girls there was a "creepy man" walking towards them. The girls noticed the man, who they described as "homeless looking" and the driver told them: "I have to go to work. You can get in the back seat and I can bring you to my work."
The students told the woman "no" and ran across the street to a family member's house.

The driver was described as a white woman in her mid-forties with medium-length brown-grey hair. She was driving a new silver SUV.
"Please review this incident with your children and review stranger/safety issues with them in order to help endure their safety at all times," Mosca wrote in the letter. "Encourage them not to walk alone on the streets and be watchful for strangers."
