Curtis Juengerkes Appointed As New Sherwood Elementary Principal

Curtis Juengerkes has been appointed as the new principal of Islip’s Maud S. Sherwood Elementary School, replacing Chad Walerstein, the district’s current director of technology, innovation and information systems.

Juengerkes has been with the Islip School District for 25 years, most recently as assistant principal at Islip High School. He also previously worked as a business teacher and coach.

An Islip resident, he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting at St. John’s University, and his master’s degree in secondary education and professional diploma at Dowling College.
