East Islip Man Convicted in Hit-and-Run That Seriously Injured Man to be Sentenced
The 58-year-old faces up to eight years in prison.
An East Islip man convicted on charges in a hit-and-run in East Islip last year is scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday.
Charles Santjer, 58, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash and tampering with evidence.
He faces up to eight years in prison.

In April 2015, Santjer struck a pedestrian, Brentwood resident Jimmy Rice, who was crossing Carleton Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Rice suffered severe head trauma but survived.
Last month, a jury convicted Santjer of the charges following a five-day trial.
