Fire Breaks Out At Islip Restaurant

Seven fire departments responded to the blaze that broke out at the local eatery Friday afternoon. No injuries were reported.

ISLIP, NY — A fire broke out at an Islip restaurant Friday afternoon, Suffolk County Police confirmed. Officers and firefighters responded to a report of a fire at 526 Main Street at 4:30 p.m.

The address is home to The Blue Seafood Restaurant and Oyster Bar, which opened in 2017. According to the Islip Fire Department, crews were met with difficult conditions accessing the fire which was burning just below the roof line in the back part of the building. The fire was extinguished and brought under control within 1 hour and 17 minutes. The restaurant suffered serious damage but the fire was able to be contained from extending to the neighboring businesses.

There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad and the Islip Town Fire Marshal.

Mutual aid assistance was provided by the East Islip Fire Department, Bay Shore Fire Department, Islip Terrace Fire Dept., Brentwood Fire Department, Central Islip Fire Department, and West Islip Fire Departments as well as the Exchange Ambulance of the Islips, and the Bay Shore Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance, Inc.
