Islip Honors Hispanic Heritage
Five students were honored by the Islip School District in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month.

ISLIP, NY - From Islip School District: In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Islip School District honored five Hispanic, Hispanic heritage and Hispanic American students who have demonstrated civic and community engagement at different levels.
Islip High School senior Brianna Sanchez, Islip Middle School eighth-grader Desiree Pagan, Commack Road Elementary School fifth-grader Nicole Matute, Sherwood Elementary School fifth-grader Jose Ruiz Segura and Wing Elementary School kindergartner Jayden Guevara-Jandres were recognized at the Oct. 24 board
of education meeting, held at the middle school library. In attendance to congratulate the honorees were Suffolk County Legislators Tom Cilmi and Monica Martinez.
