Islip School Budget Passes
The votes are in. The absentee ballots were counted and the community approved the 2020-2021 school budget.
ISLIP, NY — Residents within the Islip School District boundaries voted to approve the 2020-21 school budget by a margin of 2,324 votes to 1,007.
Residents voted on the district's proposed $87,516,577 spending plan for the school year, a 1.49 percent increase from the current budget. To fund the increase, the district proposed a tax levy of $61,859,807 up 2.65 percent from the current year's.
For the Board of Education, incumbent President Philip J. Dineen, who ran unopposed, was re-elected. Also elected was new trustee Laura Rogacki.
