Islip Residents Approve School Budget

Islip residents headed to the polls Tuesday to vote on a school budget and elect board members.

ISLIP, NY - Islip residents approved the district's $86,320,140 proposed budget on Tuesday by a margin of 1,150 to 391.

The budget represents a 2.82 percent spending increase over the current year and a tax levy increase of 2.85 percent.

In the vote for Islip Board of Education members, incumbent trustee Danielle Flora, running unopposed, was reelected with a total of 1,058 votes.

For the seat held by trustee Matthew Clareen, he defeated challenger Kristian Woppel, 975 votes to 465.
