Islip Seniors Enjoy A Lively Block Party

Islip School High held a lively Senior Block Party on Sept. 23 in front of the school, complete with DJ music, refreshments and raffles. At various tables, seniors could submit baby pictures and order their yearbooks and caps and gowns. The event was a true community effort, with donations coming from local families; district organizations such as the Islip Teachers Association and the school’s PTSA and Post-Prom Committee; and local businesses such as Bagel Boss, Bubba’s Burrito Bar, Coyle’s Ice Cream. Dang BBQ, Fratelli Pizzeria and Maxwell's.

“Like last year’s senior class, the current senior class lost out on many traditional activities,” said senior adviser Nikki-Ann Gerardi-O’Leary. “Our junior prom was scheduled to take place this past May and like many events, was canceled due to the pandemic . We saw this as a great opportunity to get our senior class together and celebrate. The Block Party would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of our dedicated and devoted administrators, teachers and staff. The custodial staff and security also did an outstanding job assisting in the setup and orchestration of the event.”
