Islip Town Officials Advise Residents to Prepare for Tropical Storm Hermine
BREAKING: Weather conditions are expected to worsen in the area within the next 36 hours.

In response to the National Weather Service's tropical storm warning for Long Island, Town of Islip officials are advising residents to take precautions before the storm arrives.
A tropical storm warning is in effect for our area through Tuesday afternoon and weather conditions are expected to worsen within the next 36 hours.
All Islip Town beaches, Byron Lake Pool, and the Spray Park will be closed on Sunday, September 4. No lifeguards will be on duty.

Islip Town officials ask residents to take all appropriate precautions, including making sure that medication is stocked and stored correctly.

In addition, due to the high winds, officials are asking that residents secure lawn furniture and lawn items to prevent damage to neighborhood property.

Officials also advise residents to have the following emergency numbers on hand:
- For Emergencies call 911
