Local role model Rohan Murphy visits Sherwood

From Islip Schools: Students at Islip’s Maud S. Sherwood Elementary School were enthralled by a guest appearance from a local legend, motivational speaker and CatchSpark.com founder Rohan Murphy. Born with a severe birth defect that led to the loss of both of his legs, Murphy nonetheless persevered to become an accomplished wrestler at East Islip High School and Pennsylvania State University, and then a bronze medal-winning Paralympic weightlifter.

During the visit, Murphy shared his story with the students and challenged them to rise
above adversity. “Rohan is a great speaker and great individual with a very unique story,” said
Principal Chad Walerstein.
