Islip, NY – From the Town of Islip: Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and the Islip Town Board welcomed students and members of the Islip High School Athletic Department at December’s Town Board meeting, in recognition of the school’s three varsity teams who won championship titles this fall. The three teams: Girls Soccer, Gymnastics and Tennis, each had outstanding seasons, culminating in a string of big wins for the school.

The Girls Soccer team, under the direction of Coach Mike Reilly, took the Suffolk County Class A Championship. The Girls Gymnastics team, combined with the Bay Shore High School Gymnastics team, under the direction of Coach Erica Barone, won the 2018 Suffolk County Championship and were the 2018 Undefeated League I Champions. Lastly, under the direction of Coach Steve Arey, the Girls Varsity Tennis team were the 2018 League III Champions, Division II Champions, the Suffolk County Big 4 Champions, and placed 4th in the Suffolk County Championships.

Over 50 students in total along with their coaches, were acknowledged for their hard fought athletic achievements, and were presented with Town Certificates by the Supervisor and Town Board. “These determined young athletes are role models, and exemplify that hard work truly does pay-off,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
