Voter's Guide: Islip 2018-19 School Budget, Board Election

What you need to know for election day.

Residents in the Islip School District will vote on the district's $83,956,103 proposed budget for the 2018-19 school year on Tuesday, May 15.

The proposal calls for a 1.84 percent increase in spending over the current year and the tax levy increase is 1.66 percent, which is within the tax levy cap.

Residents will also have an opportunity to elect three members to the Islip Board of Education for three-year terms starting on July 1. Those running for the open seats include:

  • Eric S. Buehler
  • Matthew Kriss
  • Paul J. Austin

Leggio is the only one running for re-election. The other three will be running for seats left open by Brian Clock and Mary Ann Coughlin who will not be seeking re-election.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Islip High School gym.
