Jackson Heights Man Charged With Manslaughter For Fatal Shooting

Police arrested a man in connection with the shooting in Jackson Heights Monday that left one dead.

JACKSON HEIGHTS, QUEENS — Police have arrested a man in connection with the fatal shooting in Jackson Heights Monday.

Jackson Heights resident Nestor Londono, 49, faces manslaughter, weapon and drug charges for the April 8 shooting that left one dead, police said.

Jeffrey Arroyo, also a Jackson Heights resident, died after suffering a shot to the chest by 37th Avenue and 88th Street, according to police. Emergency responders rushed Arroyo, 31, in critical condition to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

"My heart goes out to the family of the victim," City Council Member Daniel Dromm, who represents Jackson Heights, said in a statement. "I remain committed to ending senseless acts of violence such as these and will continue to advocate for the passage of common sense gun control laws that keep weapons out of the hands of criminals."
