Thieves Nab Easter Baskets From Jackson Heights Church

JACKSON HEIGHTS, QUEENS — Thieves stole nearly $500 worth of goods from a Jackson Heights church, including 14 Easter baskets filled with chocolate, according to police.

Two people stole a laptop, speaker and miscellaneous household items — including a garbage can, utensils and the Easter baskets — from Atonement Lutheran Church on April 17, police said.

The theft, which happened about 3:20 a.m. that morning, resulted in the loss of $470 worth of goods, according to police.

Police on April 19 arrested 32-year-old Manhattan resident Natasha Brnjac for the burglary. A second suspect is at large.

Assembly Member Michael DenDekker donated replacement Easter baskets to the church in time for the holiday, police said on Facebook.

Atonement Lutheran Church is located at 30-61 87th St. in Jackson Heights.
