• Rising diesel fuel costs are forcing New York school districts to closely monitor budgets (fingerlakes1.com) — Jamestown families should know that diesel for school buses has jumped from $2.79 to $4.19 per gallon, pushing Jamestown Public Schools to boost its fuel budget from $225,000 to $240,000 next year. District leaders say they’re still comfortable for now but will closely watch prices as transportation remains an essential daily service.
   

• Jamestown BPU Announces Temporary Schedule Changes For Customer Service Office (wrfalp.com) — Jamestown BPU’s Customer Service Office has temporarily shifted its hours, now opening 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday–Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday–Friday, closing daily from 1–2 p.m. Residents can still pay bills online, by phone, or via drop boxes at City Hall, the Police Department, and 92 Steele Street.
   

• Bills Fans Hit With Tough Blow Ahead of Home Opener vs. Lions (heavy.com) — Jamestown gets a shout-out as hometown of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who’s expected to attend the Buffalo Bills’ first regular-season game in their new stadium this fall. That Week 2 Thursday night home opener against the Detroit Lions is already drawing buzz, but steep ticket prices starting around $663 could keep many Western New York fans watching from home instead.
