The loss of a pet affects young children more than parents consider. A benefit though, is that it is a true Life Lesson.
April 2002: Daughter #1, then 4 Years, 7 Months.
Our beloved Dalmatian "Abbey had to be put down in early December of 2001. Daughter #1, although uncomfortable with the subject of death, brought up the subject of Abbey being in Heaven. She proceeded to educate her Dad as follows:
"You know what Dad?" Jesus is in Heaven too. Some jealous guys nailed him to a Plus Sign."

Speaking of Abbey being in Heaven, Daughter #2, 2 Years, 5 Months, asked my wife if they could go there some day and have lunch with her!
