Parents.......NEVER Wear Blinders!
Almost 15 years ago, I decided that Parenting, to the best of my ability, was a Mission that would define me. Alas, I'm not sure that I was prepared for how quickly the "tough" part would arrive.
With daughter #1 a Freshman in High School, reality is starting to set in. Many mornings, I stop in a Deli near where I work. I often see one of the best high school athletes on Long Island, who is going places, including an Ivy League school on a full ride. What was he discussing with his pals over breakfast? The difference between Red Stripe and Dos XX's.
