Donations are being accepted for the family whose
A trailer has been set up on the property of the Marvin Drive home as the family begins clean up from the fire, which claimed most of the family’s belongings. Anyone wishing to donate can leave items at the trailer.
“They pretty much lost everything,” said Paula Sledge, girlfriend of Jim Heuschneider, a resident of the home.

“Baby items would probably be appreciated most, his one-year-old nephew lived there and they were told not to reuse any of the baby items, even if they didn’t look damaged because the chemicals in smoke can harm a baby.”
The Kings Park Fire Department responded on Tuesday to a 1:49 a.m. call of a fire at a two-story home on Marvin Drive. The department arrived on the scene at approximately 1:50 a.m. and declared the fire under control by 2:30 a.m.

Sledge credits working smoke detectors for alerting the family to the fire.
"Everyone should check their smoke detectors and replace batteries. It probably saved their lives," she said.

Clothing for one-year-old boy. Diapers, baby food, stroller and bedding.
Mens large shirts, pants, size 38Wx30L
Women’s large shirts, size 12 petite jeans.
Mens large sweatshirts, medium t-shirts, jean size 32Wx32L
Girls junior size clothing and size one jeans.
