Allow me to introduce myself; I am William Schneider, a graduate of the 2011 class of Kings Park High School and a student of Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I’ve spent the better part of my high school and early college lives working on and with computers, writing programs, performing studies, and most importantly fixing them when they break.
When working with computers it’s easy to get overwhelmed or confused, and it’s far too common that we trust what is put in front of us when we shouldn't For those among us who may not be as savvy with new technology, it can be frightening to be told how much our personal information is at risk every time we go online.
This blog is going to be a walkthrough for those people; I will discuss how to avoid common pitfalls on the internet; I will explain how the computer works; I will teach readers how to effectively navigate the web while avoiding the constant stream of security threats.
