Kings Park Girl Struck by Van Dies From Injuries

KINGS PARK, NY - An 11-year-old Kings Park girl who was struck by a van last weekend died from her injuries at the hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Holly Gallo had been in critical condition at Stony Brook University Hospital since the accident last Saturday morning. Holly was crossing Main Street in Kings Park between Carlson Avenue and Thompson Street when she was hit by a van driven by 52-year-old Willian Lopez, of Freeport. No criminal charges have been filed in the accident.

The Kings Park community has rallied together for the Gallo family since the accident. A candlelight vigil was held for Holly at the Kings Park Bluff on Tuesday evening. An online fundraiser for the Gallo family has raised more than $35,000 as of Friday morning.
