Kings Park Resident Recognized for Saving Elderly Woman From House Fire
The Suffolk County Legislature honored officer Matthew Funaro and good samaritan Joseph Cartelli for their quick-thinking actions.

Two men were recognized for heroically rescuing an elderly woman from an Eaton’s Neck house fire in February.
Suffolk County Police Officer Matthew Funaro and Kings Park resident Joseph Cartelli, who was performing work on the home, carried the 88-year-old disabled woman to safety after a fire broke out in her Old Winkle Point Road home on Feb. 10.
The woman was transported to a hospital where she was treated for minor and non-life threatening injuries.

The quick-thinking actions of these men were recognized at the general meeting of the Suffolk County Legislature on Tuesday, March 22.
