Smithtown Needs a Change

Its no secret that Patrick Vecchio has had his share of ethical blunders.  For a man who has been in office so long its surprising that he doesn't know these rules!

We all know that the Suffolk DA convened a Grand Jury investigation of Vecchio's coercion of Developer Sal DiCarlo.  Well how about this gem that CEG has uncovered:
Fran Koslow is the campaign treasurer for Friends of Pat Vecchio.  She is also the branch manager for The First National Bank of Long Island.  Interestingly, on February 5, 2013 Pat Vecchio moved to have the First National Bank of Long Island added as an official depository for the Smithtown Office of the Comptroller.
Here is a quote from the Town of Smithtown Code of Ethics:"No official or employee shall engage in any act which is in conflict or gives the appearance of conflict with the performance of the official's or employee's duties. An official or employee shall be deemed to have a conflict of interest if:(1) The person willfully engages in any business transaction or professional activity or shall have a financial or other private interest, direct or indirect, or incurs any obligation of any nature which is in substantial conflict with the proper discharge of the official's or employee's duties, unless such officer or employee abstains from voting or otherwise officially acting with respect to the subject matters affected.

"
Hey Pat, when your campaign treasurer is a branch manager at a bank that is looking to obtain business from the Town you have to ABSTAIN from voting, not INITIATE the Vote! This is not the kind of person who should be running this town.

If you have had enough of the status quo in the town of Smithtown, then check out CEG's webpage:
