"What a great opportunity for us. To be able to highlight and get the recognition that our district deserves. I think it is a wonderful thing," said board trustee Tom Locascio at the meeting.

The commissioner is expected to tour the building and talk to students in the classrooms. Agruso said she is looking forward to showing off some of the districts successful programs such as American Sign Language.

A state education official said the visit is part of the commissioner's back-to-school tour and that he visits schools throughout the state regularly to meet with students and teachers.

"We will do our homework and show off Kings Park Pride," said Agruso.
