WEATHER UPDATE: Kings Park's Hour-By-Hour Snow, Ice Storm Forecast

Winter weather advisory in effect until Tuesday morning.

All of Long Island remains under a winter weather advisory until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The island is expected to receive less than an inch of snow, along with between one and two-tenths of an inch of ice accumulation before the precipitation tapers off early Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service says.

The NWS is warning of “very treacherous travel conditions today and tonight especially on any untreated surfaces as they will be very slippery.”

So far, Nassau–especially the North Shore–has taken the brunt of the storm, with several school districts deciding to close on Monday.

  • This Afternoon- Snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 3pm, then snow and sleet. High near 28. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. Northeast wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime ice accumulation of around a 0.1 of an inch possible. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Tonight- Snow and sleet, becoming all snow after 10pm. Low around 21. Wind chill values between 10 and 15. North wind 15 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Tuesday- Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 33. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. North wind 14 to 16 mph.
