Windy, Wet Christmas Week Weather Aiming for Kings Park

Check out the latest forecast.

A white Christmas remains unlikely, but Mother Nature is currently predicted to cause headaches for millions of travelers during the holiday week.

The National Weather Service says there’s a chance of rain on Long Island from Sunday-Wednesday next week, with the greatest chance of rain coming on Christmas Eve.

Minor street flooding is possible Wednesday and a wind advisory “could eventually be needed for some areas,” according to the NWS.

“This still looks like an all-rain event,” the NWS in Upton said.

“The most far-reaching impact from the storm will be strong winds that develop and that have the potential to cause substantial flight delays along the Interstate-95 corridor, parts of the South and the Midwest,” AccuWeather.com senior meteorologist Alex Sosnowski says.

At the moment, the rain on Long Island is expected to end by the time the sun rises on Christmas.

This Saturday should be sunny on the island with a high near 40, the NWS says. There’s a slight chance of rain and snow late Saturday night into early Sunday, but no accumulation is expected.
