• Hamilton College holds emergency training for first responders (timestelegram.com) — Emergency preparedness in the Kirkland area just got a boost as Hamilton College hosted a large-scale training drill with the Kirkland Police Department and other regional agencies. First responders practiced handling a simulated science-lab emergency, complete with mock injuries and decontamination, to sharpen communication, campus familiarity, and response times for real crises affecting local students and neighbors.
   

• Whitesboro man sentenced to 20 years for attempted murder (uticaod.com) — Kirkland residents should know that local police played a key role in a serious attempted murder case that led to a 20‑year state prison sentence for a Whitesboro man. Oneida County prosecutors say the Kirkland Police Department, along with county and Utica authorities, responded quickly after the victim was assaulted inside their home, and a jury convicted the defendant last year.
