β’ Hamilton College holds emergency training for first responders (timestelegram.com) β Emergency preparedness in the Kirkland area just got a boost as Hamilton College hosted a large-scale training drill with the Kirkland Police Department and other regional agencies. First responders practiced handling a simulated science-lab emergency, complete with mock injuries and decontamination, to sharpen communication, campus familiarity, and response times for real crises affecting local students and neighbors.

β’ Whitesboro man sentenced to 20 years for attempted murder (uticaod.com) β Kirkland residents should know that local police played a key role in a serious attempted murder case that led to a 20βyear state prison sentence for a Whitesboro man. Oneida County prosecutors say the Kirkland Police Department, along with county and Utica authorities, responded quickly after the victim was assaulted inside their home, and a jury convicted the defendant last year.
