• Experts weigh in on New York's rabid beaver scourge (nypost.com) — Rabid beaver attacks at Turtle Island on Lake George have prompted state conservation officials to warn swimmers and boaters to avoid contact with beavers and watch for abnormal daytime behavior in the water. Experts stress that such incidents are extremely rare but can cause serious injuries and potential rabies exposure, so anyone bitten in Lake George or elsewhere should seek immediate medical care for post-exposure treatment. 
• DEC Celebrates Americans with Disabilities Act Anniversary & Expanded Accessible Outdoor Recreation (iloveny.com) — Prospect Mountain’s overlook above Lake George is getting a new adaptive color-enhancing viewfinder, part of a statewide push to make scenic spots more accessible for people with color-vision deficiencies and other disabilities. New York’s DEC is rolling out similar viewfinders and adaptive equipment—from birding gear to beach wheelchairs—so more residents can comfortably enjoy public lands and outdoor programs.
