• Latour becomes North Country's first IBSF rep in over 40 years (suncommunitynews.com) — A North Country local, Tuffield “Tuffy” Latour of nearby Saranac Lake, has been elected Vice President of Sport for the International Bobsled and Skeleton Federation, a big deal for Lake Placid’s sliding community. After Lake Placid hosted the 2025 World Championships, there are no World Cup events scheduled in North America through 2027, but Latour is expected to push for a more balanced future calendar.

• New York Mixed Bag: DEC reminds public of shark and sturgeon salvage program (outdoornews.com) — Lake Placid is being eyed alongside New York City for a potential joint Winter Olympics bid, with a state exploratory committee looking at a possible 2042 Games that could again spotlight the village’s Olympic legacy. The broader roundup also covers DEC shark and sturgeon reporting, a temporary Saratoga County archery range closure, youth fishing gear donations, and Catskills fly‑fishing honors.
