Residents gathered at the Olympic Jumping Complex to celebrate dozens of local groups, reflect on volunteer-powered events, and hear heartfelt calls to keep building connections and helping neighbors across Lake Placid and North Elba.
   

2. 11 Easy Lakeside Hikes In New York That End With A Picture-Perfect View (takingthekids.com) — Two of the featured “easy lakeside hikes” are right in Lake Placid, with clear directions to Heart Lake from the Adirondak Loj and to Connery Pond from Connery Pond Road. The guide highlights short, low-effort Adirondack walks that still deliver big water and mountain views, plus several other scenic lakeside trails across New York worth a day trip from town.
   

3. Hong Kong Family Moves Their Bookstore to Upstate New York (wgna.com) — A Hong Kong family has recreated their English-language bookstore in Honeoye Falls, but the piece also nods to Lake Placid’s Olympic legacy with a photo gallery from the 1980 Winter Games. The images revisit scenes from February 13–24, 1980, when Lake Placid hosted the XIII Olympic Winter Games.
   

4. Olympic Ice Skating In Madison Square Garden? New York Governor Eyes Bid for Winter Games (fresnobee.com) — State officials are floating a long-range bid that could pair Lake Placid with New York City to host a future Winter Olympics, potentially as early as 2042. While nothing is decided and other hosts are already lined up through 2038, Governor Hochul says “significant” planning talks are underway.
