AGING IN PLACE: A Free Webinar with Dr. Atul Gawande, MD, MHD
Bestselling author and physician Dr. Atul Gawande, to Discuss AGING IN PLACE via nationally syndicated webinar at the Larchmont Library

Most adults would prefer to age in place—that is, remain in their home of choice as long as possible. In fact, 90 percent of adults over the age of 65 report that they would prefer to stay in their current residence as they age. One-third of American households are home to one or more residents 60 years of age or older. Join us for this important webinar featuring Dr. Atul Gawande, author of Being Mortal, and join the discussion about how the goal is not a good death but a good life – all the way to the very end.
Co-sponsored by At Home on the Sound in Mamaroneck and made possible by The Village Movement and Beacon Hill Village.
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, from 5:00 to 6:00pm

About the Village Movement
The Village Movement began with Beacon Hill Village in Boston 15 years ago and is now a burgeoning, world-wide movement that champions an alternative approach for adults as they grow older. Today there are over 200 open Villages and more than 150 in development in 45 states and the District of Columbia. Villages across the country and around the globe are unique in that they are created by and for older adults, empowering their members to make wise, safe, and vibrant choices about how they wish to live while sharing the common goals of:
- Creating opportunities for individuals to use their talents to direct and sustain their villages thereby enhancing the communities in which they live.
- Providing opportunities for social engagement, which minimizes isolation and promotes interaction and trust within the Village community between individuals who offer their help and those who ask for help.
- Helping older adult to age in the place of their choosing closely connected to their communities and with the supports and tools they need to create successful aging of their own design.
About Beacon Hill Village
Beacon Hill Village is a membership organization that believes we each have a choice when it comes to growing older. Not whether to grow old, but how and where we will do so. Everyday our 350 members follow their interests, connect with one another and give back to their neighborhoods in ways that matter. Beacon Hill Village offers a new kind of experience for how we age—one that is all about choice. We believe in taking responsibility for our own aging and making choices that let us live full lives on our own terms, in our own homes and community.
Beacon Hill Village provides a wide range of activities, events, and programs that help members stay healthy in body, mind and spirit. And as needed, it provides access to services and support that help members successfully navigate the transitions of aging.
