After a four-day battle, you have chosen your favorite female and male athletes of the year. Read on to see the results.
You voted, you picked them. After a four-day polling battle, Larchmont-Mamaroneck Patch readers have chosen their favorites for the Athlete of the Year recognition on Patch. Last week, we spoke to several coaches and looked back at the sports seasons to give you eight candidates to choose from (four males and four females). The results are in.

The lucky lady "qualified for the Federation tournament final in both the 200 and 500 freestyle, where she finished fifth and third, respectively. It was the second straight year she finished in the top 10 in the state in both events, and also the second straight year she was undefeated in both the regular season and the sectional tournaments. The junior, who has been a varsity swimmer since seventh grade, set school records in both events," reported Patch contributor Harold Gutmann.
Congratulations, Kelly Johanson! She fought a fair battle against classmate Lauren Rush. They received 54 and 39 percent of the votes, respectively (146 votes in total).

As for the men, "the Binghamton-bound junior hit .441 for the sectional semifinalist baseball team, including team-highs of six homers and nine doubles, and scored 41 points for hockey team," Gutmann reported. "He scored 33 runs and had 26 RBI in 68 at-bats and went 3-0 with one save and a 3.33 ERA in 11 appearances on the mound, striking out 24 and walking just three in 21 innings. In hockey, he scored 22 goals, and tied for second-most on the team. He will be playing for the Hudson Valley Empire State Game baseball team this month."
Our winner in the male category is Scott Hagan, who fought a tight battle against Jack Miller. Hagan received 40 percent of the votes, while Miller received 36 percent (22 votes in total).
