Discussion with Serdar Arat on the comparative experience and exploration at the crossroads of art, history, and cultural sensibility.

What does the art and architecture of many distinctly different Islamic cultures over millennia reflect about their philosophies and sensibilities? How did Islam interact with, influence, and be influenced
by other world cultures?

Arat has had more than 30 solo exhibitions in both in New York City and Istanbul since the 1980’s. Arat
served as a Professor of Art and 1993-2017 and Director of the OSilas Gallery both at Concordia College, Bronxville, New York from 1994 to 2008.
