In Recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Sisterhood* of Beth El Synagogue in New Rochelle is proud to announce that on Monday, October 9, 2017 from 11 AM to 1:30 PM we will be hosting a special program to educate men and women about breast cancer.

A delicious brunch will be provided for all attendees in the Beth El Sukkah.

The program is designed to educate men and women about the increased risk of hereditary breast cancer among Jewish families, the impact of breast cancer, and the importance of early detection and treatment.

Our special guest speaker, a volunteer from Sharsheret** , is Rena Hyman, herself a cancer survivor who will talk about her journey from diagnosis to a healthy and productive life after cancer. As the mother of 4, a hard working executive, and popular speaker, she knows the importance of living each day to the fullest with hope and optimism.

There is no charge for the program but reservations are a must! Event Co-Chairs Arlene Salman, Ellen Hollender and Janis DeMartini don’t want to have anyone go away hungry. “We want everyone to have food for their tummies as well as food for thought.” Please RSVP: bethelnr.org/sisterhoodsukkah2017.

A “Sponsorship Committee” is being formed consisting of cancer survivors, family & friends of cancer survivors, or in memory of those who did not make it. We are not charging for the event, but hope that generous sponsors will help to underwrite the costs of providing the brunch in the sukkah.

* Sisterhood is comprised of women of all ages from Beth El Synagogue, working together to provide social and educational programs of interest to all. Programs include book clubs, canasta, mah jongg, walking club, knitting, and numerous special events throughout the year.

**Sharsheret is the only national not-for-profit organization dedicated to addressing the needs of Jewish women and families of all backgrounds facing breast and ovarian cancer.
