RESPONSE: SURVEY: Dems Still Sore Over Gillibrand's Debt Ceiling Vote

I think that this county needs to define the word “liberal” in order to set parameters or standards between democrats and republicans. In Europe (many Europeans living in our vicinity), every liberal in the county would be considered a conservative and would be politically on the extreme right.

Liberals in this county create marginal conditions and structures through policy and governing decisions – to many, they have become oppressors. The more they refuse to view injustices holistically and inclusively the more we suffer. A divide and conquer” mode of operating comes into play using marketable “imperfections,” i.e., the poor, non-White and undocumented as tactical jargon
and justifications for policies most punitive to these communities.  

Let’s look at the most important institution we have, our public schools, where it all starts. The more “distant” from their standard those viewed as Others are, the more they qualify to be molded; recruiting staff to inculcate a different way of thinking and living so that their “imperfections” can be “fixed”. This structure does not invite critical thinking, but reinforces a colonized mindset that keeps anyone from learning or embracing any part of these communities.

Still on the school district… private groups, such as Latino parents and students, are viewed as “not working together” with the district if they organize independently to challenge or question academic strategies. The mindset that parents and students can be the experts of their own futures do not fit in the definition of a community viewed as disenfranchised and blamed entirely for that condition.

With immigration issues the liberals’ first suggestion to the undocumented is. A Democratic flyer stated: “For immigrants who don’t have legal status, we should require them to come out of the shadows and register, pay taxes, and start working toward becoming Americans, (this definition being subjective) while keeping their families together.” Their campaign dictates that by getting ordinary immigrants in line for citizenship and prioritizing enforcement actions to target genuine threats, immigration reform will be good for America’s security. Tragically, yet strategically, many liberals “forget” that very hungry people sign and do just about anything. Individuals who take part in persuading and requiring them [the hungry and unemployed] to do anything without questioning the impact on their lives without access to education and a context from which to decipher political tactics. This is a way of terrorizing people—“commit or else”—with a one-sided arrangement that rapes countries of its most important resource, its people. Under these parameters, the request for an active citizenry is made selectively and controlled rather than democratic.

Connecting the dots with Senator Schumer and Citizens United type abuses (unchecked capitalism), he becomes a republican no matter what he does when considering that he accepted over $ 5.6 million from Morgan Guarantee.

Locally, politics and allegiances are exposed at monthly open forums in Mamaroneck/ Larchmont by a group that is extremely careful in choosing who is to speak on issues. When one speaks contrary to the panel, laughter is common.

Liberalism was created ONLY to give a voice to those who are shunned aside,  abused, and ignored by the larger society. It requires the risk to withstand the criticism for having a different type of thinking when the status quo has such a strong hold on the decision-making and governing of the society; you are the “deviant” and that “otherism” leaves you too exposed to take the role on lightly, without focus and practicing a high level of consciousness.

My county’s liberal mindset, at heart, is too often colorblind and not void of extreme conservative unsupported values. Too many officials and advocates are opportunistic and protective about careers, alert to how power only yields to a higher power.
