Cameras Help Nab Suspect Who Snatched Purse From 74-Year-Old: VMPD
A 29-year-old Mamaroneck man was identified as a suspect soon after a witness called police to report the Mamaroneck Avenue robbery.

MAMARONECK, NY — Thanks to the quick work of the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department, a suspected purse snatcher, who is accused of preying on an elderly victim, is in custody after a brazen robbery on a busy street.
On Friday, at 6:35 p.m., Village of Mamaroneck police received a 911 call from a witness who reported that a robbery had just happened in the 100 block of Mamaroneck Ave. The witness said that a man grabbed the victim’s purse and ran down the street with it.
Police interviewed both the witness and the victim of the crime, a 74-year-old woman, at the scene.

Detectives soon zeroed in on a suspect.
On Sunday, the suspected purse snatcher was spotted walking down Mamaroneck Ave. and was placed under arrest, according to officials. David N. Graham, a 29-year-old from Mamaroneck, was charged with felony robbery in the third-degree. He was later arraigned in the Village of Mamaroneck Court and was remanded to the Westchester County Department of Corrections.

"Kudos to the VOM police department for making an arrest in a crime committed against one of our senior citizens," Mamaroneck Mayor Tom Murphy said in a statement released on Tuesday. "The investigation was aided by cameras that the Village Board approved being installed in our community recently. The combination of technology and diligent police work will keep our Village a safe and secure community. Thanks again to the best police department in the area!"
