Community Talk On Coyotes In Mamaroneck

The session, featuring an wildlife expert, is a response to the community's concern over coyote sightings.

MAMARONECK, NY — The Town of Mamaroneck has engaged a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Wildlife Biologist for an informational session for the community to help residents understand coyote behavior and habits. Kevin Clarke will give a presentation at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30. It will be held at the Mamaroneck Senior Center, 1288 W. Boston Post Road.

Town Supervisor Nancy Seligson said that due to recent incidents involving coyotes, the town felt it was important to address this issue by having an expert on the topic come speak to the residents.

“We hope the public will take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the coyote and its interaction with both humans and domestic animals," Town Administrator Stephen Altieri said. "We think this will be a very informative event.”

Clarke has been a wildlife biologist for the DEC for 12 years and has given dozens of talks on the topic, most recently earlier this month in Pleasantville. He will give people time to ask questions following his talk and hopes to leave residents armed with the facts and with a better understanding of the coyote, according to the town.
