The Westchester Jewish Council will celebrate “Honor Week” – which honors Israel’s wounded soldiers – with the Consul General of Israel in NY, Dani Dayan and other distinguished heroes onTuesday, December 6, 2016, 7:15-9:15pm at the Jewish Community Center of Harrison. The program, which is part of a weeklong series of “Honor Days” where wounded soldiers will visit different schools and synagogues, is sponsored by Carmel Academy, Jewish Community Center of Harrison, Pelham Jewish Center, Shaarei Tikvah, UJA-Federation of NY, Westchester Day School, Westchester Jewish Council, Westchester Torah Academy, Young Israel of Scarsdale and Young Israel of White Plains.

The event is being organized by the shlicha of Westchester, Oshra Rosenberg (Israeli emissary who serves as a broad community resource in developing and institutionalizing Israel programming and awareness through education and engagement; a program funded in part by UJA-Federation of New York.) The program will feature a keynote address by Ambassador Dayan, as well as remarks by Shuli Mualem, Member of the Knesset and Gil Revivo, an Israeli soldier. The evening will begin with an expo of Westchester Jewish organizations, and will include music by Kol Rinah, Westchester’s Jewish Chorale. The evening will close with a Kosher dairy dessert reception.

“We are delighted to welcome and introduce Ambassador Dayan to the Westchester community as well as show our honor and respect for those who have given of themselves in order to protect the State of Israel,” said Elliot Forchheimer, Executive Director, Westchester Jewish Council. “We encourage everyone, regardless of affiliation, to join us at what is sure to be an informative and moving evening.”
