Update: Yonkers Swimmer Still Missing, Active Search Called Off
James Drago, 49, disappeared off the Larchmont coast Saturday. A helicopter searched for him yesterday with no success.
The man who disappeared on Saturday after going for a swim in the Long Island Sound near the Larchmont Shore Club is still missing. The Coast Guard ended its search at approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday, but Westchester County police sent a helicopter to fly over the area yesterday and Sunday, according to Sgt. William Walsh of the Larchmont Police Department.
"As of yet, it's still an active investigation," said Walsh. "Until we verify some of the information and in turn find the victim, it is being handled as a missing person case."
The Police Department is not planning any searches today, but a call will be made to the Westchester County Aviation Unit, Walsh added.

James Drago, 49, jumped from his boat into the water to go for a swim and never resurfaced. The boat was found anchored off the coast of Larchmont, near an island called Hens and Chickens, said Walsh. An unidentified 29-year-old female who was on the boat with Drago called police to report the incident. She has since been interviewed, he added.
The New Rochelle Police Department received the call at around noon on Saturday, and notified Larchmont shortly after. The search was initiated and was being conducted by the New Rochelle Police Department, NYPD, Coast Guard and Village of Mamaroneck Police Department marine units, and by the Westchester County Department of Public Safety Aviation Unit. The investigation is being handled by the Larchmont Police Department.

Update: As of Thursday afternoon, July 1, Drago has not been located. An active search has been called off, according to Walsh. Walsh did not provide any information regarding the unidentified 29-year-old woman who was with Drago.
