Driver Of Car Involved In I-95 Tractor-Trailer Rollover Is Cited In Crash

The 27-year-old Connecticut woman was merging into traffic after stopping on the shoulder of the New England Thruway, according to NYSP.

TOWN OF MAMARONECK, NY — New York State Police have released more details about the car vs. semi collision on the New England Thruway that left the tractor-trailer overturned, and sent two to the hospital, snarling the morning commute in Westchester.

State police responded to the crash involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle that occurred at around 7 a.m. Tuesday on I-95 southbound, near exit 17 in the Town of Mamaroneck.

Investigators said that 27-year-old Emily Shea Alexander, of Bristol, Connecticut was stopped on the right shoulder in a 2004 Toyota sedan when she moved into the roadway, making contact with the 2011 Freightliner tractor trailer, which then overturned.

Alexander was taken to Westchester Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital with minor injuries.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Alexander was issued citations for vehicle and traffic law violations.
