Electrical Fire in the Town of Mamaroneck Caused By Generator
A fire started at a residence on 7 Winding Brook Dr. after a homeowner attempted to connect a generator. The street is still without power after last weekend's storm.
An electrical fire that started after a failed attempt to start a generator at a single-family, one-story home on 7 Winding Brook Dr. in the Town of Mamaroneck was contained in 20 minutes before it spread throughout the house.
According to Claudia Raab, a neighbor on 1 Winding Brook Dr., the homeowner noticed flames shooting up a curtain in her bedroom and she quickly ran out of the home.
“She was sleeping and had no idea how it started,” she said.

According to the Town of Mamaroneck Fire Chief Brendan Collins, the call came in just before 4 p.m. One of the homeowners was outside, attempting to connect a generator to the house when the other homeowner ran outside saying she had seen flames in the house and coming out the front window.
Residents on Winding Brook Drive are still without power after last weekend’s storm, but the fire was not related to flooding from the storm, he said.
