Golden Harvest Dance

Senior citizens can socialize, enjoy lunch and dance the afternoon away at the annual Golden Harvest Dance on Tuesday, October 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. The doors to the County Center will open at 10:30 a.m.
The Golden Harvest Dance is sponsored by Westchester County Parks and the county's Department of Senior Programs and Services. The event is open to all Westchester senior citizens who are 60 years of age and older.

Beginning at 11 a.m., seniors can travel back in time to the Big Band era as they listen and dance to the Milt Gerver Orchestra perform classics like "In the Mood," "Moonlight Serenade" and "Tuxedo Junction." A regular favorite at Playland Park every summer, the 16-piece orchestra also features two vocalists. The band's repertoire ranges from popular favorites from the 1930s and '40s to the contemporary sounds of today's disco and hot Latin music.

Box lunches - which include a turkey sandwich, apple, cookie and juice - will be available during this event; the suggested contribution is $4. No food may be brought into the County Center during the dance but the concession stand will be open.
